Tiny chick and spring violets...
The dunnock has got futher than last year's bird - 2 of the eggs have hatched. She was back on the nest this morning (this shot was snatched yesterday in a moment when she was away). And the violets are out in time for Mother's Day - hidden on the banks or tucked into crevices.
This little bunch is right near our back door, clinging on in some soil that has accumulated around an old gatepost. I don't often sweep past the barn, but when I do I always take care not to sweep these little plants away.
